"Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes provides a glimpse into The Phantom Pain and offers gamers their first chance to see Snake and Kojimas vision showcased by the new FOX graphics engine. Ground Zeroes offers an exciting and equally satisfying experience. It sets a very positive tone for things to come. The side missions provide extra content for players once they wrap up the main story adding further value. The Deja Vu mission is exclusive on the PS4 and is certain to be enjoyed by fans of the franchise by giving players some fantastic nostalgia. " -BootHammer

Your first playthrough of Ground Zeroes will only take a couple of hours. If you arent the sneaking type it will significantly shorter. This sounds like a poor value proposition at thirty dollars, but when the credits roll on the Ground Zeroes mission the real game begins and theres a whole lot more to it.

Good Game: "Ground Zeroes is a strange creature. It's in shops as a full retail release, but I struggle to see this as anything more than a glorified, extended tech demo for the new FOX-engine. It's all set in just one map: a prison camp. You load up the game, play through the story mission -which I clocked at about one and a half hours- and then credits roll.
After that you can go back in for side missions with various objectives such as destroying AA turrets, an on-rails helicopter mission, and a sneaking mission where you need to eliminate two targets by identifying their faces. But those side missions felt more like optional objectives, rather than full on missions in their own right. And you are still in that one map -either at night or during the day- going past the same locations over and over again. It quickly becomes very tedious."

| Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Is Stupid Short, But Is It Your Fault?
Added: 26.03.2014 16:19 | 3 views | 0 comments
CCC Says: "So there has been a bit of a controversy surrounding the release of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. According to Kojima and Konami in general, the game takes about as long as a normal game to play if you are the type of gamer that likes to explore. If you are not that type of gamer, the game is far, far shorter. We have seen runs of the game coming in at under 10 minutes, and these runs arent even optimized. They do involve skipping cutscenes, but in terms of actual gameplay, there isnt a whole lot to do in Ground Zeroes before hitting the end."

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:
"Ever since Kojima first revealed Metal Gear Solid V fans have been waiting eagerly for the games release. Then when it was revealed that the game would be broken into two parts, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain, fans still were ready to dive into the game wholeheartedly. However after formation on Ground Zeroes was revealed, the gaming community grew skeptical about Ground Zeroes and whether it is nothing more than a paid demo. Well, were they right or does Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes stand up on its own?"

Battle Screen's Gregory Edwards reviews Ground Zeroes, stating "All of these elements combine to create something that, while admittedly rather short on a single playthrough, is crafted with such care that its impossible not to appreciate how much of a marvel the whole thing is. Its just a pity that the game is, for everything it does, such a tough sell due to that pricing. That said, GZ performs its job wonderfully, and I dont think I could be any more excited to see where Phantom Pain takes this series."
